Who is eligible to apply? ReplyDeleteThe Thomas Pratte Memorial Scholarship is sponsored by the Surfrider Foundation for for students with an interest in coastal environmental science, such as oceanography, marine affairs, environmental sciences, public policy, community planning and natural resources. The Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to the protection and preservation of the world's waves, oceans and beaches. A total of $10,000 is awarded each year: one $2,000 scholarship for an undergraduate student, one $3,000 fellowship for a master's student, and one $5,000 fellowship for a PhD student. Coca-Cola Scholarship
1. Seniors in high schools throughout the United States who meet the eligibility requirements may apply each year for one of 250 four-year, achievement-based scholarships.
2. Exactly 2,200 applicants are selected as Semifinalists and notified by mail and email. Semifinalists must then complete a secondary application, like essays, transcripts, and two letters of recommendation. Semifinalist applications are due by mid-January. Our Program Review Committee will select 250 Finalists to advance to the final interview phase. Notifications are sent mid-February.
3. In April, the 250 Finalists are invited to Atlanta for personal interviews. The Finalists are interviewed by a National Selection Committee representing outstanding leaders in business, government, education and the arts. 50 students are then designated as National Scholars and receive awards of $20,000 for college; 200 students are designated as Regional Scholars and receive awards of $10,000 for college.
If you’re a male 6’ 2” or taller, or a female 5’ 10” or taller, you just may qualify for this $1,000 scholarship. To qualify, you simply need to write an essay entitled “What Being Tall Means to Me.”
